Tengah New Town

When I was staying in Toa Payoh, I used to pass by Singapore Housing Development Board (HDB) HQ gallery often after my dinner, and thus I get to know latest township development in Singapore.

So after moving out from Toa Payoh, @auleo only manage to know the latest township development via TV news.

Recent year, at the border between Malaysia and Singapore, there is this mega township named Forest City developed by Chinese company Country Garden. In their advertisement, they always stressed the point "next to Singapore", but to me, not so optimistic at this project first they are all built on artificial island and secondly it's just located next to a busy port- Tanjung Pelepas.

But they did make a great effort in promoting this Forest City where you can see their advertisements everywhere. Not so long later, Singapore HDB then lauched the similar forest-city-concept new township, named after Tengah, which is also aim in car-free town.

Tengah in Malay language means "center", which pronounced as "Deng-Ngah", @auleo do have little comment on its chinese name translation. Tengah located between Chua ChuKang & Jurong, but not geographically center of Singapore. Its proximity to the forest nevertheless do fulfill the greenery lifestyle of modern day.

There is another township showcase in the HDB gallery- Punggol Town, which is the previous township that was heavily promoted by HDB. @auleo not been there often and not familiar with the new town. And will not consider moving there as its location is just opposite the heavy & chemical industrial park in Johor Bahru.
