Today @auleo would like to introduce Steemians a
traditional bakery in Johor Bahru (JB) downtown.
I believe many of us who stay in Singapore or JB would
have known, there is a famous Chinese family-run bakery Hiap Joo in Jalan Tan
Hiok Nee, whom is famous of their wood fire oven-baked cakes and bread.
@auleo myself went to Hiap Joo several times and I like
their breads, especially when it’s freshly served out from the oven. I bet you
would right away fall in love with their buns of which you would not able to
find elsewhere.
Yet many would have overlook the other bakery which is
also bake in traditional oven, and just the next street, a bakery which run by
an Indian Muslim family.
>Named after Salahuddin Bakery, it located just the
opposite of famous chicken chop in town – IT Roo, and this bakery is really
full of 60s 70s ambient of olden day shop.
The secret weapon of the shop- the traditional oven
>Neither do they have the long queue as Hiap Joo, nor
focusing on the hot freshly baked breads and cakes, Salahuddin Bakery displays
all their products at a glance. As the customers are a few, chit-chat with the
boss is easy.
We bought the traditional white bread. Not only is it tasty
with its bread fragrance, but it’s very affordable as well. Highly recommended.
We did buy the Sardin puff, but we didn’t consume right away
but only take after home. So we don’t have special comment about it.
City
There are many nice food in the JB downtown, which make it worthy to pay a visit here for
food hunting especially to those who without car Singaporean. It’s worthy to
walk a few streets away from the City Square Shopping Mall, after all JB is not
only about City Square.
